Biography

Hillary Metz is the daughter of Barbara Lazarus Metz, a Chicago based artist. As a result art has influenced her life from an early age. From writing poetry to acting to photography she has expressed herself creatively. In 2013 she moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Santa Fe, New Mexico after an extended visit earlier that year. Finding herself surrounded by new vistas, incredible light and movement she took up painting after attending a abstract painting workshop led by Julie Schumer and James Koskinas. Mostly self-taught she paints with acrylics on paper, wood panel and canvas. Discovering her artists voice is an ongoing and ever-evolving journey. She continues to grow through the mentorship of both Julie and James. She is deeply grateful for their honesty, encouragement, constructive criticism and a small space in their studio to call her own.
